New year, new farm
We can’t really say we had a rest over Christmas and ahead of the start of the foaling season but all the hard work we’ve been doing since the end of the December Sales has been worth it as we are now settled in to our new farm.
With the lease up at Granham, we were delighted to have been given the chance by Lady Clark to take a long lease on Redenham Park Stud near Andover. It’s a farm with a rich history of producing decent racehorses, such as G1 July Cup winner Sakhee’s Secret, bred by the late Bridget Swire, but it has also been empty for several years meaning that we have inherited some really good fresh land from which to continue Norris Bloodstock. All the horses were moved over Christmas and we are delighted to say that they all seem happy and relaxed in their new environment. It’s turned colder now but the unseasonably warm conditions up until recently mean that we have plenty of grass for our broodmares, young stock and spellers. We have also been delighted to have been sent some really classy new boarding mares for several new clients, as well as having plenty of our old friends around from many of our longstanding patrons. The arrival of our first foal should be imminent and it’s likely to be a hectic few months ahead as we gradually welcome the newborns to the farm. We did manage to take a quick pause over Christmas to watch the Norris/Huntingdon yearling purchase Sharjah win his second Grade 1 in a row for Willie Mullins and Rich and Susannah Ricci. He even ended up on the front of the Racing Post! Over the next month we will be updating our website with a fresh, new look and some photos showing off our new farm. We couldn’t be happier to be here and we’re looking forward to some exciting times ahead.
